Abstract:
Despite internal divisions among German Revisionist Zionists, under the pressure of Nazi measures in 1934 they formed a united body, the Staatszionistische Organisation. The president, Georg Kareski, was a controversial figure. He recommended meeting with Nazi officials, and was later accused in Palestine of trying to impose his leadership on the community with Nazi help and endangering the Zionist Federation by attacking it publicly as Marxist and assimilationist. States that, in fact, the Staatszionisten had no choice but to accommodate to Nazi policy. Thus, unlike other Revisionists, they did not attack the Transfer Agreement, they opposed the boycott of German goods, and played down demands for a Jewish state. Kareski also supported active participation in the Nazi plan for the emigration of German Jewry. However, he was opposed to attacks on their economic position and forced emigration. The German authorities dissolved the Staatszionistische Organisation in August 1938 because of its relations with the international Revisionist Zionist organization.
