Kurzfassung:
Discusses the life of the wealthiest Hungarian Jew of his time, Shlomo Seneor ben Efraim, a.k.a. Shneur Zalman ben Ephraim (ca. 1460-1526), who was active in the Jewish community in Buda. He converted to Christianity in order to marry his Christian mistress, and took the Latin name Emericus Fortunatus (in Hungarian, Imre, or Emerich, Szerencsés). He was the deputy treasurer of the Kingdom of Hungary and played a major role in currency reform in 16th-century Hungary, including its coinage. His two sons, who remained observant Jews, are known for requesting responsa from the greatest rabbis of their time as to how they should be called up to the Torah after their father had converted. Szerencsés reverted back to Judaism on his deathbed.
