Abstract:
Discusses the Egyptian TV series "Faris bi-la jawad" ("Rider without a Horse"), which is based on the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion". The Egyptian production mixes antisemitism with anti-Zionism, claiming that 18 of the 24 protocols have already come to pass, as can be seen in the Jews' or Zionists' treatment of Palestinians. Notes that the "Protocols" in Arabic translation has been a best-seller and that antisemitism is a prominent strand in the fabric from which the Arab ethos is made. The series was not only the product of a "people's voice" channel, but also received the blessing of Egyptian authorities. The timing of the broadcasts, during Ramadan, linked religious with nationalist sentiments. Regardless of Egyptian denials of the series' antisemitism, Yadlin defines its goal as the politicide of Israel.
