Abstract:
Challenges the view that Genet was antisemitic (and anti-Zionist). Critics who contend that he was antisemitic base their conclusions on anecdotes, guilt by association, and dubious generalizations. Stresses how few times Genet referred to Jews in his works, and that these references were not negative. Believes that Genet saw the Jews as victims, except in regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, where he sympathized with the Palestinians.
