Kurzfassung:
Presents a defense of Arendt regarding the charge that she was a "self-hating Jewess" and related charges evoked by the publication of her book "Eichmann in Jerusalem" (1963). Maintains that Arendt's judgments made sense in terms of her political theory and its suppositions, especially her distinction between the public and the private domains, and her views on self-interest, morality and totalitarianism. One of the reasons for the misreading of Arendt was that she raised questions about an issue that was considered canonical, the image of "the Jew as victim", in her criticism of the actions of the Judenrat leadership in Europe.
