Abstract: Quotes from an anti-Jewish text written by the monk Amatus of Montecassino ca. 1086, and queries whether this is indicative of Jewish-Christian relations in southern Italy at that time. Concludes that although there were isolated incidents of attacks against Jews in the 9th to the mid-12th centuries, not enough evidence has been found in both Christian or Jewish works to state that hostility was an issue; the main issue at the time was the Christians' desire for the Jews to convert.
