Abstract: An account of the controversy surrounding the production of Jim Allen's anti-Zionist play "Perdition" (based on the Kasztner affair) in London. Although Allen claimed that the play was based on fact, it is a combination of quotations taken out of context and inventions which originate in Soviet and extreme-left anti-Zionist propaganda. Allen alleges that the Zionists secretly collaborated with the Nazis in the murder of millions of Jews in order to strengthen their claim to a homeland and to save a chosen few, and that Zionism is a racist ideology like Nazism. The language and imagery of the play reflect traditional stereotypes such as the Jewish conspiracy and the view of Jews as cruel, treacherous, and deicidal. Defends the right of the British Jewish community to protest publicly against production of the play.
