Abstract:
The first part of Heidegger's "Schwartze Hefte", diary notes from 1931-41, which appeared in 2014, were interpreted by their publisher, Peter Trawny, as containing many antisemitic passages and revealing that Heidegger found the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" to be an accurate description of the essence of Judaism. Tawny's own book,"Heidegger und der Mythos des jüdischen Weltverschörung" (2014) triggered heated discussions in France, Germany, and Italy, while Heidegger's notebooks themselves led to grave conflicts also within the German Heidegger Society. The publication in 2015 of the second part of Heidegger's notes, from 1942-48, revealed Heidegger's indifference to the fate of the Jews and his delusional self-exaltation. The publication of the "Schwartze Hefte" has triggered discussion about the value and content of Heidegger's philosophy, provided new proof of his attachment to Nazism, and ignited demands for a revision of Heidegger's collected works, which are mainly based on his literary heritage, controlled by the family.
