Abstract: This article is based on a German draft by Ernest Hamburger, which was translated after his death and edited for publication by Peter Pulzer, as well as Pulzer's own research on electoral behavior in the Weimar Republic. In the post-World War I period, most Jews supported the German Democratic Party (DDP) which was therefore attacked as an international, decadent "Judenpartei". The party officially opposed antisemitism, but conservative elements feared identification with the Jews. The German Volkspartei (DVP), under Stresemann, was opposed to antisemitism, but he had to fight antisemitic tendencies within the party.
