Contends that antisemitism arises from psychological fear of the Other. Explains the religious, historical, and social/psychological factors involved. Surveys Jewish history in ancient and medieval times, showing the development of Christian anti-Judaism. Racial antisemitism emerged in 15th century Spain in order to devalue the Jews and to separate them from society, and was later incorporated by the Nazis.
