Abstract:
Describes contemporary antisemitism in the Arab countries. States that traditional Christian Arab antisemitism, with its medieval European roots, later influenced Muslim Arabs, and has not changed up to the present day. Changes in Europe (e.g. "Nostra aetate") have not permeated Christian Arab circles. Quotes extensively from the Arabic press, mainly Egyptian and Saudi Arabian, showing how their anti-Zionism is mixed with traditional antisemitic stereotypes, including belief in the "world Jewish conspiracy". Many articles claim that all the evils in the world today are effects of the Jewish conspiracy, including the 9/11 terrorist attack. Underlines that anti-Jewish and anti-Israel calumnies circulate not only among Muslim extremists; they also appear in the moderate press, and in this way influence the uneducated masses.
