Abstract:
This article interacts with the objections of Douglas Moo and Thomas Schreiner to the view that, in context, Deut 30:11–14 has a grammatically future time orientation. After giving a brief history of the debate, it is argued that the word היום (“today”) in Deut 30:11 cannot grammatically shift the time orientation of the discourse back to the present and therefore that the future tense reading of Deut 30:11–14 is the proper reading of the Hebrew text in context.
