Abstract:
States that non-Jewish emigre writers from Germany did not mention the events of the "Kristallnacht" in their works. Only Jewish emigres related to this subject, though with certain scruples, since they hesitated to identify "the Germany of Lessing and Schiller" with the Nazi terror. The danger of racist theories was underestimated by all emigre writers until the last years of the Second World War.
