Kurzfassung:
A critique of the Vatican document "We Remember", issued on 16 March 1998, on the Church's position on the Holocaust. The document absolves the Church itself of all guilt, and reduces the guilt of its members to lack of courage to oppose Nazism and to aid persecuted Jews. It asserts that Pius XII saved hundreds of thousands of Jews and praises other Catholics who protested (often lukewarmly) or aided Jews. In its sketch of the history of Christian anti-Judaism, it fails to mention the Crusader pogroms or the expulsion from Spain. It attributes the Holocaust to an anti-Christian neopaganism. Pp. 167-177 contain a German translation of the document.
Anmerkung:
Includes a German translation of the Vatican document (pp. 167-177).
