Kurzfassung:
Discusses the wartime activities of Weichert, a Jew who was appointed by the Nazis as head of the Jüdische Unterstützungsstelle für das Generalgouvernement (Jewish Aid Office), operating out of Kraków, and his postwar trials. Before the war Weichert (1890-1967) had been a Yiddish theatrical director and a critic. After the war, he was tried in January 1946 by a special criminal court on charges of serving the Germans, and exonerated. In 1949 he voluntarily submitted to another trial, by a Jewish civic tribunal, which found him guilty of collaboration. Subsequently, he was ostracized by the Polish Jewish community. In 1958 he emigrated to Israel. He died in 1967 in Tel-Aviv.
