Kurzfassung:
Aron, a professor of architecture, essayist, and art critic, as well as administrator at the Jewish Museum in Brussels, writes in response to the killing of four people (two of them were an Israeli couple on holiday) in the Museum in May 2014.Argues that the concept of "antisemitism", conceived in the late 19th century in the context of the struggle of Jews in Europe for integration, emancipation, and equal civil rights, is no longer valid. With the creation of the State of Israel, the world has passed the stage of the existence of a "Jewish question". Some distrubing acts and threats made in Europe may still reflect antisemitism, but this is not the case when it comes to acts such as the murder in Brussels. Just as injustices committed against the Palestinians and the instability of the situation in the Middle East force everyone, including the Jews, to abandon their Euro-centrist vision, so do the shootings in Brussels. Contends that present-day nations are organizations much more than organisms, and social inequality has eclipsed all other forms of natural inequality. The struggle today is between the rich and powerful, and the poor and weak. The killings in Brussels were only a violent expression of stupidity and barbarism, free of ideological motives.
