Abstract:
Opposes the introduction of an official, state-supported Holocaust remembrance day in Britain. Contends that it will probably be ignored by large sections of the population; the concentration of Holocaust remembrance in a single day (or a single place) will lead to forgetting the Holocaust during the rest of the year; making it official will re-shape Holocaust memory and give the government an opportunity to represent itself as morally upright. Argues for a plurality of forms of Holocaust remembrance.
