Abstract:
"The Answer" was a bi-weekly magazine published in New York between April 1943-December 1948. Established by the members of the Revisionist Zionist "Bergson Group", it was the only Jewish periodical to systematically protest against the destruction of European Jewry during a period of silence and inaction on the part of the Jewish establishment. In its first year of publication, it focused on enlisting public opinion, Jewish and non-Jewish, on behalf of rescuing the Jews of Europe. Afterwards, it centered on the fight for an independent Jewish state. Describes some of the influential supporters of the paper, from the spheres of politics, the media, literature, and the arts.
