Abstract:
Although the fact is not well-known, the Polish science fiction writer Lem is a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust. During the war, he obtained Aryan papers and worked for the German army as a mechanic. Contends that his science fiction stories are full of hidden references to the Holocaust, such as the dehumanization of the victims (e.g. robots, creatures from outer space), a planet which is reminiscent of the Nazi concentration camps, and recurring images of frozen bodies.
