Kurzfassung:
Guri, Israeli writer, poet and essayist, reflects on the postwar reactions of the Yishuv in Palestine to the Holocaust. Contests the allegation found in Israeli historiography that the Zionist concept of "negation of the diaspora" generated indifference and an "instrumental" attitude toward the Holocaust and its survivors. Posits that such conceptions somehow arise from regrets concerning the revival of the people of Israel rather than events experienced at the time by a generation which was actively involved. Describes personal experiences (including his involvement in rescue of survivors) and presents many extracts from related literary works.
