Abstract:
Ritual murder accusations against Jews were widespread in Germany between 1880-1900. One of them was the blood libel in Xanten, where a Jewish butcher, Adolf Buschhoff, was tried for the murder of a five-year-old child in June 1891. Describes the accusation, the trial, and the responses of antisemites to Buschhoff's acquittal.
