Abstract:
Examines the appearance of the negative stereotype of the "Jewish woman", an incarnation of old antisemitic stereotypes, in late 19th century Hungarian literature. The fantasy of the Jewish "femme fatale" of Budapest, symbolizing the evils of modernity, reflected a growing hostility of Hungarian public opinion towards Jewish assimilation.
