    Abstract: Dieser Band versammelt Kurzprosa sowie Texte aus dem teils verloren gegangenen Nachlass; darunter bisher unveröffentlichte Kurzgeschichten, Roman- und Dramenfragmente, Essays aus der politischen, juristischen sowie kulturellen Arbeit, zudem Gedichte, Parodien und Kritiken aus allen Lebensabschnitten. Neben den deutschsprachigen Originaltexten werden auch verlorengegangene, nur in hebräischer Übersetzung vorhandene Texte aus der palästinensisch-israelischen Schaffensperiode erstmals in deutscher Übersetzung zugänglich gemacht. Der Band enthält unter anderem das von Hermann Struck illustrierte Frühwerk „Die Tulpenthaliade", Parodien und satirische Portraits zionistischer Zeitgenossen, Couplets, Kurzgeschichten, darunter Kriminalgeschichten und Fragmente einer Novelle über das Leben einer jüdischen Familie in Deutschland, das Fragment eines verloren gegangenen Romans über die globale deutsch-jüdische Diaspora, Würdigungen, politische Polemiken und Feuilletons zur zionistischen Arbeit, kunsttheoretische Schriften zu jüdischem Humor und hebräischem Theater, gesellschaftskritische Beiträge aus der Berliner und Tel Aviver Zeit, sowie das Spätwerk „Targum Onkel S." – ein satirisch-lyrisches Bibelepos. Die Kommentare der vorliegenden Ausgabe erschließen das bisher unveröffentlichte Archivmaterial kritisch und kontextualisieren es in der zeitgenössischen und geisteswissenschaftlichen Rezeption
    Abstract: Sammy Gronemann (1875–1952) is one of the most outstanding Zionist authors and satirists to have written in German. This volume collects his short prose, mainly texts from his estate, part of which has been lost. It includes previously unpublished short stories, fragments of novels and dramas, essays written within the scope of his political, legal, and cultural work, as well as poems, couplets, parodies, and satires from all stages of his life

    Abstract: The period between the Roman take-over of Egypt (30 BCE) and the failure of the Jewish diaspora revolt (115–117 CE) witnessed the continual devaluation in the status of the Jews in Egypt, and culminated in the destruction of its Jewish community. This volume collects and presents all papyri, ostraca, amulets and inscriptions from this early Roman period connected to Jews and Judaism, published since 1957. It is a follow-up of the 1960 volume 2 of the Corpus Papyrorum Judaicarum. It includes over 80 documents in Greek, Demotic, and Hebrew, both documentary and literary. The expansion of the scope of documents, to include languages other than Greek and genres beyond the documentary, allows for a better understanding of the life of the Jews in Egypt. The documents published in this volume shed new light on aspects discussed previously: The Demotic papyri better explain the Jewish settlement in Edfu, new papyri reveal more about Jewish tax, about the Acta papyri, and about the developments of the Jewish revolt. The magical papyri help explain cultural developments in the Jewish community of Egypt. This volume is thus a major contribution to the study of the decline of the greatest diaspora Jewish community in antiquity
