Abstract:
Discusses the significance of a previously unexamined archive, that of the Central Building Administration of the SS in Auschwitz, which was captured by the Red Army largely intact and is now in the Central State Archive in Moscow. It was brought to public attention in an article in "Izvestia" (18 February 1990). Fleming, who examined the files in October 1990, contends that in light of revisionist attempts to present mass gassings of Jews as a myth, this archive is valuable. Describes the process of the mass murders in Auschwitz-Birkenau, and details regarding the building and completion of the crematoriums in 1943 which appear in the archive files. States that he found at least 18 new indicators of mass crimes relating to Auschwitz-Birkenau in these files.
