Abstract:
Isa 66:5 is an oracle of condemnation in the Hebrew Bible, of salvation in Old Greek. Nevertheless, it must have been originally one and the same prophetical word: the same words and the same number of words in the same sequence. Six variant readings distinguish the two textual forms. Linguistically they are small differences but they have a great impact on the interpretation. This article proposes an explanation of the important difference arising at some point in the history of the text.
