Abstract:
Discusses the radicalization of antisemitic and anti-Zionist propaganda in the USSR following the outbreak of Israel's war in Lebanon (1982). Zionism was depicted as an international conspiracy to destroy the USSR, aided by Jews who control the West's economies and politics. The radicalization abated after the death of Andropov in 1984. His successor, Chernenko, adopted a policy which was guided by Brezhnev's dictum "neither Zionism nor antisemitism".
