Abstract:
A chapter from the author's M.A. thesis - Tel-Aviv University. Describes the difficulties facing journalists in Eretz Israel during 1939-41 in receiving reliable information, in determining what was true and what was a distortion (or so they believed), and deciding what to print and what not to print. Various methods were employed to achieve credibility, but generally the public did not believe what they read since there was a prevalent feeling that it was mostly "propaganda" and therefore unreliable. As the war progressed, reliable sources became scarcer and credibility was increasingly difficult to verify.
