Abstract:
Reports on a trial in 2007 in Athens, in which Konstantinos Plevris and the periodical "Eleftheros Kosmos" were accused of racism by the NGOs Greek Helsinki Monitor and Antinazistiki Protovoulia (Anti-Nazi Initiative), and the Jewish umbrella organization Kentriko Israilitko Symvoulio. Plevris, a self-proclaimed racist and antisemite, is the author of "Jews, the Whole Truth" (2006), an antisemitic work which also contains Holocaust denial; "Eleftheros Kosmos" published articles in connection with this work, also quoting from the "Protocols". The reporter, editor, and publisher of "Eleftheros Kosmos" were acquitted, but received light sentences in another trial in 2008; Plevris received a 14-month suspended sentence. Notes that antisemitism is widespread in Greece and that, aside from these trials, nothing is being done to curb it, in spite of efforts of the organizations that brought Plevris to trial.
