Abstract: Relates, extensively, to passages in the Septuagint used by Christians as references in the Hebrew Bible to the coming of Christ as the Messiah. Today, in New Testament research, it is no longer unanimously assumed that the early Christian faith had its roots in the belief in the risen Christ. The tracing back of the early Christian faith to the 'historical Jesus' is increasingly advocated, but we can nevertheless accept the assumption that the early Christian faith arose at Easter. The early Christians believed in the "Kýrios 'Iisoús Christós" because he appeared to them as such and not because of an authority acquired by the pre-Easter Jesus of Nazareth that survived his death.
