Abstract:
In 1480, when the Inquisition was established in Seville, the Benadevas were a prominent Converso family of traders. Despite their position, Pedro Fernandez Benadeva, a member of the Cathedral Chapter, was accused of Judaizing and of several attempts to conspire against the Inquisition. Describes the trials of several members of the family, some of them priests, and traces their fate. Includes Inquisition documents.
