Abstract:
As more people than ever are on the move worldwide because of ongoing military conflict and war, political and social persecution, climate change, or economic deprivation, and most of them are women, feminist Bible scholars need to reflect on the purpose and rationale of biblical hermeneutics and methodologies. Why are we reading the way we are and how do our interpretations perhaps unconsciously reinforce neoliberal principles? This essay investigates how feminist Bible interpreters deal with the topic of migration, which biblical texts they prefer when the topic is migration, and how feminist biblical interpretations nurture and deepen the critical reflection on a feminist biblical hermeneutics of migration in the neoliberal era.
