Abstract:
Dwells on four German Jewish writers born after the Second World War: Rafael Seligmann, Maxim Biller, Barbara Honigmann, and Esther Dischereit. Essentially these authors are children of Holocaust survivors. However, their writings do not focus on the horrors of the Holocaust, but on the difficulty of bridging the gap between their generation and that of their parents and grandparents who experienced the Holocaust. For the first two writers, the trauma of the Holocaust endangers the generational bond of German Jews rather than strengthens it.
