Abstract:
Relates the history of the Jewish theater group Concordia, which was active in Cluj (in Hungarian, Kolozsvár) between February 1941-May 1944, during the Hungarian and later the Nazi occupation of the town. The group was comprised mainly of Jewish actors who had been constrained by the anti-Jewish laws to leave non-Jewish theater groups. After the Nazi occupation of Hungary in 1944, most members of the group were interned in the ghetto and eventually deported to Auschwitz. Some were recruited into Hungarian military forced labor units. Only four members of the group survived the war.
