Abstract:
Rabbi Yihye Qafih (1850–1931) Was one of the greatest Jewish scholars of his generation in Yemen. In this article, we attempted to describe the various institutions connected to rabbi Qafih – those he founded himself, those he managed and those he influenced. A common denominator in all is the integration of philosophy and other secular studies, as a matter of preference and not only adherence to prevailing trends. My assertion is that this did not come about only as a direct influence of modernity or other external forces but rather as part of a consistent, unbroken tradition which started in the school of Maimonides.
