    Abstract: The memoirs were written in Cuba. The author was a student of national economics and married to Dr. Rudolf Freund, manager of the Flick iron works. Recollections of her life in Nazi Germany. After the night of the November pogrom in 1938 the couple decided to send their children with a "Kindertransport" abroad to saftey. Life under anti-Jewish regulations in Berlin. Forced labor in a laundry shop and an ammunition factory in Berlin. Detailled description of humiliation and strenous circumstances of the work. Scarceness of food and exhaustion due to forced labor. First news of deportations to Poland. Anxious wainting for their visas to the United States. Shortage of housing due to anti-Jewish regulation. Obligation for "non-Aryans" to wear the yellow star. More and more difficulties in their efforts to emigrate. Last minute emerge of their exit visas prevented their deportation. Emigration to Cuba via France and Portugal in 1941.
