Abstract:
Examines whether Tucholsky himself had prejudices against the Jews and Judaism. Claims that latent antisemitism was widespread during the Weimar Republic, a fact which may explain how it is that certain contemporary Jews, including Tucholsky, do not remember antisemitic defamation. Although Tucholsky carried on a polemic against antisemites, he himself used antisemitic cliches. States that Tucholsky had more of a political outlook than most of his contemporaries, but he underestimated the power of antisemitism.
