Abstract:
From the partitions of Poland through World War II and the postwar period, Polish Jews of various creeds and walks of life, from assimilationists to Zionists and the Orthodox, loved their native country. Their patriotism took into account the antisemitism of the majority of Poles, and sometimes of the Polish state, but they persisted despite it.
