Abstract:
Relates the difficulties, even impossibility, of the emergence of a true identity as Soviet Jews in the 1930s. The Jewish authors who spoke at this congress delivered their addresses in Yiddish. Examines their speeches according to various subjects discussed, which were intended to present their Jewish culture as part of the pan-Soviet system, but they did not succeed. Relates the obstacles and mistakes which were part of the failure of Jewish writers to develop a Soviet Jewish identity and culture.
