Abstract:
Henry Mack (1820-1896) was a German Jewish immigrant; he arrived in New York as a young man, and soon settled in Cincinnati. Mack was a successful businessman, who was also active on the town's city council. He established a Jewish elementary school, was a founder of the first Reform synagogue in Cincinnati, and helped found the Hebrew Union College where he became the first head of the Board of Directors. He also served one term in the Ohio state senate.
