Abstract:
Surveys the main motifs of contemporary Arab antisemitism, such as the widespread belief in "Jewish control" of the world's media, demonization of Jews, blood libel accusations, negation of the Holocaust, etc. Focuses on the case of Egypt, where the popular TV serial "Rider without a Horse" is based on the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion". Notes that the negative stereotypes found in Arab antisemitic propaganda are mostly imported from Europe. Relates to a series of three lengthy articles written by Osama El-Baz, Hosni Mubarak's senior adviser, denouncing antisemitism in Egypt and in the Arab world, published in 2002 in Egypt's weekly "Al Ahram".
