Abstract:
Based on results of the survey "Current Problems of Slovakia after the Split of the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic" carried out in 1993. The survey was concerned with issues such as social distance from Jews, stereotypes of Jews (Jews as entrepreneurs and preoccupied with money, Jews as an intellectual elite, "Jewish power, " the "Jewish conspiracy, " the Jew as "anti-Slovak"), the memory of the Holocaust in Slovakia, and attitudes towards Israel. The results show that the degree of antisemitism among the respondents in Slovakia is not excessive - on the average, it is less than in Poland and Austria, but greater than in the Czech Republic and Hungary.
Note:
Based on a public opinion survey in 1993.
