Abstract:
This article will deal with a historical analysis of the religious feministmovement in Israel, and the compatibility of this movement to thespirit of religious Zionism in Israel. We will conduct an in depthexamination of the religious-feminist theory, while comparing it to thefeminist theory in general, and specifically to that which is in Israel. And, it will emphasize the expansion of a rift in ideology between"liberal" and "conservative" women that has come about since thefounding of the movement. We will research the influence of the "Third Wave" of feminism, which includes theoretical and practical extremism within themovement. We will further discuss the incongruity between the goalsof the movement and the world-view of most of the women inReligious Zionism, while presenting possible explanations for this. This article will conclude with expansion on the theory of "postfeminism" which arose among women in religious societiesthroughout the world. It will prove that this theory correctly reflectsrecognition by these women to the change in the reality of their lives, alongside with their desire to continue with their connection totradition and religious society. Their aspiration is therefore theirpersonal empowerment without breaking the existing beliefs andHalachic system.
