Abstract:
Contends that Islamic dictatorships use antisemitic literature to divert the anger and frustrations of their own people. Thus, the Jews and their alleged "world conspiracy" are blamed for the poverty and distress of many citizens in Islamic countries. Since the 1950s there have been more translations of the "Protocols" into Arabic than any other language and many Islamic leaders have publicly recommended that it be read. The 1990s saw an increase in the number of Arabic editions of the "Protocols" and "Mein Kampf", as well as other publications which view the Jews as the greatest threat to Islam. Terrorists, who have occasionally been found with copies of the "Protocols", are convinced that they are fighting against a "Jewish conspiracy". Discusses editions of the "Protocols" and other antisemitic works published in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, the Palestinian Authority, Syria, and Iran from the 1970s through 2002.
