Kurzfassung:
Describes the identity crisis and reactions of the Italian Jews following the implementation, through segregation and antisemitic propaganda, of the racial laws: families were split along "racial" lines, some committed suicide in protest (e.g. Carlo Segrè in Reggio Emilia). Traces the fate of the Jews of Reggio during the persecution: 10 of them died in Auschwitz, another 90 succeeded to hide or flee. Speaks against Holocaust denial, and stresses that while many Italians proved their solidarity with the Jews, the Jews were persecuted, arrested, and handed to the Nazis by the Italian police and administration under the orders of fascist minister Buffarini-Guidi.
