Abstract:
The essay takes into account the Platonic theoretical device of analogy in Erich Przywara’sAnalogia entis. Since analogy is the overcoming of the symbol and the anagogy – as a way ofsighting the structure of reality –, Przywara elaborates a metaphysics that does not remain on thethreshold between contingent and transcendent (symbol) nor a protology that ascends bysimilarity from the causatum to the causans (anagogy) but calibrates a structure of thought ofinexhaustible tension (analogy) between concrete and abstract. It will be shown how thiscontinuous cognitive reference from the historical order to the metastorical one constitutes theimprovement of many instances of Platonic methexis; likewise, the positive issue of Platonicanalogy will be specified: at its base there is something (primacy of the principle of identity), nota lack (non-contradiction, in the Aristotelian model). Such thetic analogy informs the possibilityof an analogical theology.
