Andreev, L. Darskii, and T. Kharkova, estimates the Jewish losses in the USSR during the war as 2,771,000 - of which 1,060,000 were killed in the territories within the pre-1939 Soviet borders ("vostochniki"), and 1,651,000 died in the annexed territories ("zapadniki").
