Abstract:
In general, the conversos of Jewish origins in the Iberian peninsula of the 15th century were rejected by Christians and Jews, as well. The majority of the Christian society in the peninsula doubted their motives for conversion to Christianity and felt threatened socially by the positions the Conversos attained, e.g. tax collectors, church dignitaries. Eventually, the kings of Castile succumbed to the opinion of the public and preferred to turn them down from public positions. The Catholic Church which, in essence, condemned discrimination between Old and New Christians, was forced to deny them access to religious orders.
