Abstract:
Surveys negative images of the Jews as they developed from early Christianity on, and as depicted in Christian religious education today: the Jews as enemies and killers of Jesus, fanatics, intolerant, particularistic, dishonest, and hypocritical. Presents a number of explanations for the reluctance of Christians to change these views today: fear of that which is different; confirmation of one’s own identity by rejection of the other; fundamentalism; and feelings of guilt and prejudice.
