Abstract:
Summarizes reactions to the controversy over A.M. Rosenthal's column in the "New York Times" accusing Buchanan of antisemitism, sparked by Buchanan's charge on a TV show that "there are only two groups that are beating the drums... for war in the Middle East - the Israeli Defense Ministry and its amen corner in the United States". Cites various comments by Buchanan which show that his animus against Israel is even greater than his hatred of communism. Describes the pro-German stance in his revisionist views on the history of the two World Wars, and his defense of Nazi war criminals (e.g. Karl Linnas, Arthur Rudolph, John Demjanjuk). Concludes that Buchanan's actions match his own definition of antisemitism as "an embedded hatred of Jewish people, manifest in writing and conduct...".
