Abstract:
Reinhold Niebuhr, the American Protestant theologian, was one of the first to direct attention to the rising wave of antisemitism in Nazi Germany, and to make efforts to bring about U.S. intervention in the war. Niebuhr admitted that the roots of antisemitism lie in the sacred sources of Christian belief, and was strongly opposed to the Christian proselytizing of Jews. He also helped American Zionists, and he criticized British policies in Palestine in 1946-47
